Città di Cantù 29th International Piano and Orchestra Competition - THE COMPETITION

INTERNATIONAL COMPETITION FOR PIANO AND ORCHESTRA CITTÀ DI CANTÙ, the peak and the culmination of the activities carried out by Nuova Scuola di Musica di Cantù, with its unique formula in the world since 1991. The Competition is born thanks to the initiative and courage of Giuliano Molteni, president of Nuova Scuola di Musica di Cantù and executive director of the competition and Vincenzo Balzani, artistic director and jury coordinator.
Nuova Scuola di Musica di Cantù has carried forward the idea, indeed the invention of its Artistic Director, Maestro Vincenzo Balzani, and has made it grow in these 29 years so that the Competition, unique in its kind, is known all over the world and has had very important awards from great pianists.
But without our friends and our sponsors, the "Città di Cantù" would have been just a wonderful idea. The financial support of Comune di Cantù, Cassa Rurale ed Artigiana di Cantù, Lions Club Cantù – Mariano Comense, BLM Group, Fondazione De Ponti, Kawai and Furcht Pianoforti and many other Friends of the Competition are fundamental.
The greatest piano schools in the world send their students annually. It is no coincidence that in these 29 years our Competition has graduated great winners. Among these, affirmed in Italy and abroad, we mention: Olga Kern (Russia), Elisaveta Blumina (Russia), Igor Kamenz (Russia), Victor Chestopal (Russia), Ingrid Fliter (Argentina), Lory Kaufman (USA), Stanislav Judenich (Uzbekistan), Vsevolod Dvorkine (Russia), Massimiliano Ferrati (Italy), Francesco Grillo (Italy), Andrea Bacchetti (Italy), Vitaly Samoshko (Ukraine), Oleg Poliansky (Russia), Jung-Hee Park (Korea), Roberto Plano (Italy), Vera Kameneva (Russia), Alexander Romanovsky (Ukraine), Hubert Salwarowsky (Poland), Stefan Ciric (Yugoslavia), Mariangela Vacatello (Italy), Maria Mazo (Russia), Mihai Boitan (Romania), Pietro Gatto (Italy), Mariya Kim (Ukraine), Federico Colli (Italy), Scipione Sangiovanni (Italy), Irina Dubovik (Russia).
