REGULATION YOUNG TALENTS

1st Cantù International Young Talents Competition 2023 30th April – 1st May - REGULATION

1. Cantù Young Talents is reserved for pianists who are no more than 18 years of age as of May 1st, 2023 and born after May 1st, 2004.

2. Candidates must send their application form, duly filled in, within February 1st 2023 to the Competition Secretary’s Office, enclosing the following documents:
• Copy of identification document
• 1 size photo
• curriculum Vitae in English
• Payment of 20 euro for administrative fees, paid by PayPal

• Upon receipt of the candidate’s application form, candidates will receive by e-mail the credentials to upload the video on the dedicated You Tube channel which constitutes the preliminary test.

Administrative fees will not be reimbursed for any reason.

3. The video must contain the first movement of the Concerto with which you intend to participate in the competition. The same must be performed accompanied by the second piano or accompanied by an orchestra.
The recording must be recent, no earlier than 1st May 2022.

Video characteristics: 1080 HD with steady shooting without interruptions or editing. Must be visible hands and face of the candidate.
• Deadline to send the video to the competition: March 20th 2023
• On March 31st 2023 the names of the semi-finalists will be published on the website and on Facebook account of the competition.
The jury will select 6 finalists.

The candidates admitted to semi final tests have to pay 100 Euro by PayPal Payment a mezzo PayPal

4. Candidates will not be admitted to the preliminary tests of the contest without the payment of the administrative fees (20 euro)
Candidates will not be admitted to the final tests of the contest without the payment of the entrance fee (100 euro)
The administrative fees will not be reimbursed for any reason.

5. The jury’s decisions are final and irrevocable.

6. The members of the jury must not have had continuous didactic relations with any candidate and have to sign a statement to that effect.

7. In case two candidates are joint winners of a prize, the jury can divide the reward in equal parts.

8. The jury can decide not to give any reward if no candidate is worthy.

9. The performances are to be given by heart.

10. The competition includes three stages:
- Preliminary test by sending the video of 1st movement of concerto (see art. 3)
- April 30th: free reaharsal with second pianist – 1st movement of concerto
- May 1st morning: free reharsal with orchestra
- May 1st evening: Final tests with orchestra – 1st movement of concerto
- Winners' proclamation and award ceremony

11. The winner will perform with the orchestra on the final evening of the 31st International Competition for piano and orchestra “Città di Cantù”, May 6th 2023, performing the first movement of concerto.

12. In case of radio or television productions or tape and/or video recordings of the tests, the participating candidates have no right to advance claims or financial request towards producers or transmitters.

P. I. Čajkovskij: Concerto n° 1 op. 23
E. Grieg: La minore op. 16
S. Rachmaninov: Concerto n° 1 op. 1, Concerto n° 2 op. 18, Concerto n° 3 op. 30
* concerts marked with an asterisk should be prepared in full.

14. Candidates are given the possibility to enter also for the 31st edition of “Città di Cantù” competition, subject to payment of the required fees.

15. Participation to the competition implies the tacit consent of the above.

16. If there is dispute about the interpretation of the regulations, the valid text will be the Italian one.

17. PRIZES:
- 1st award: 2.500 euro
- 2nd award: 1.500 euro
- 3rd award: 1.000 euro
- Scholarships of 300 euros to the 4th, 5th and 6th place winners
- Diplomas to all finalists
